Two Police officers charged for aiding prisoners

Two police officers have been charged for aiding two prisoners to escape and for disobedience of lawful order.

The two officers appeared at a special court hearing at the Ba Magistrates Court yesterday before Resident Magistrate Samuela Qica.

Eroni Serukalou and Samisoni Navika took money from remand prisoners Josefa Nadomo and Aisake Naio when they were supposed to be remanded at the Natabua remand center.

The two officers are alleged to have dropped of the prisoners at their different homes in Lautoka and picked them up at their next court hearing on July 18th.

Both police officers are remanded in custody at the Natabua remand center.

The next court hearing in regards to their bail is on 31st July.
