Following the meeting with the DPP’s Office this morning, the two police officers who were in custody for their alleged involvement in the death of a 26-year-old Josua Lalauvaki have been cautioned and released.
Investigators have been advised to complete all necessary processes of the investigation and compile the file for submission to the DPP’s Office for sanctioning.
The case has been classified as murder.
Police say four other police officers have been questioned and released.
The victim was allegedly assaulted while police were attending to a report of a disturbance outside a nightclub on the 2nd of September.
Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho maintains that the Fiji Police Force has no place for officers who abuse their authority and will not hesitate to remove anyone found to be doing so.
