Natuva says the cell will only be activated if the need arises and the visit will help strengthen their operation procedures.

“We reckon that it’s best that we learn from Indonesia for the two gentlemen to be going and how we can set up our standard operation procedure. The fusion cell will only be activated once an incident happens like hostage taking or something might happen in the Middle East in regard to our troops.”

Indonesian Ambassador to Fiji, RM Benyamin Scott Carnadi welcomes the collaboration under the Defence Corporation agreement between the two countries.

“Under that defence cooperation agreement all the strategies in terms of traditional and non-traditional threats we are trying to address those in terms of training, collaboration, exchange of visits of officials and all.”

The officers will depart tomorrow and will conduct a comparative study on the NICC – which is a crisis center for emergency situation including natural disasters.
