Two men remanded for alleged aggravated robbery

Two unemployed men, have been remanded by the Nasinu Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon, for their alleged involvement in an aggravated robbery at a Nadera Medical Centre.

Maika Tovagone and Asesela Naureure both 22 years old have been charged with one count each of aggravated robbery.

Tovagone is charged with resisting arrest while Naureure has been charged with one count of criminal intimidation.

The two accused allegedly stole assorted items and cash valued at more than eight hundred dollars, which belonged to the Doctor and the receptionist, who are employed at the Centre.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon where one of four men had allegedly walked into the medical practice and asked to see a dentist and had walked out after being advised by the doctor.

It is alleged that seconds later he and three others armed with a cane knife stormed into the reception area, where they threatened and robbed the receptionist.

It is alleged that they entered one of the doctor’s examination room where they threatened the doctor and a patient before stealing a mobile phone, backpacks and the receptionist’s personal belongings.

The Southern Division Taskforce team pursued the suspects on foot while another group pursued the suspects in a vehicle.

One of the four men is admitted to the hospital while another one is still at large.
