Two men who pleaded guilty to six counts of aggravated burglary and theft have been sentenced to four years imprisonment.

The court heard that Touvea Parere and Alipate Vulagi were working at the Rars Service station in Navua and in February this year they stole assorted items valued at more than two thousand three hundred dollars on three different occasions.

On 15th February the complainant’s staff discovered the items were missing and upon checking the CCTV footage, they found the two men breaking into the store.

The High Court Judge says the intrusions occurred in the middle of the night and the two violated the trust of their employer.

Justice Chamath Morais says these types of offences have increased due to the leniency they are dealt with and the society now demands stern judicial approach.
