Two major bridges in Suva to open tomorrow

January 9, 2018 11:58 pm

The Vatuwaqa and Stinson Bridges in Suva are expected to open to traffic from tomorrow afternoon.

The Fiji Roads Authority says both bridges took about eighteen months to complete and contractors faced many challenges during construction.

Chief Executive, Jonathan Moore says this will allow traffic to ease.

”The Vatuwaqa and Stinson Bridge will both open tomorrow. First bridge is Vatuwaqa which will be opening around ten o’clock in the morning and the Prime Minister I understand will be coming down to open the bridges which I think is great. It’s highly important for FRA to get these bridges working and it’s a great benefit to everybody in Suva because it will now mean we will have alternative routes in and around the city.”

The FRA says having both bridges open will give them the chance to work on other road projects as motorists can use the new routes.
