Two former FRCA men in court

Two former employees of Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court this morning.

Avinesh Lal and Pritam Singh are alleged to have collectively obtained fifteen thousand dollars from a businessman in March, this year.

Defense Counsel for Avinesh Lal was not present in court, while Mehboob Raza of Mehboob Raza & Associates represented Pritam Singh.

Raza sought time to go through the file as he had just received instruction from his client on the second of last month.

Raza was given more time to go over the files and the proposed agreed facts.

A Pre-trial conference will be heard on the 1st of December, this year to fix a hearing date.

Meanwhile, two of the three padres of the Methodist Church in Fiji who are cardiac patients are not able to stand trial in court.

They are Reverend Manasa Lasaro and Reverend Tomasi Kanailagi who are jointly charged with Reverend Ame Tugaue with organizing and participating in a meeting in breach of the Public Emergency Regulation in 2011.

Defence Counsel Aseri Vakaloloma confirms the three men did not appear in court today.

However their case will be called on the 12th of November, this year.

The late Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu was also charged with the same offence.
