Two die in separate speeding accidents

Two drivers are now dead following two separate accidents relating to speeding.

This morning, a rental car – registration LR 2669 veered off the road at Korovou in Serua, hit a road sign, turned over and ended up in a creek.

Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri says residents living along the roadside rushed to the scene at about 3am to find the driver lifeless in the car.

Sokomuri says according to the residents, the vehicle reeked of alcohol.

In another accident – yesterday afternoon, at Lekutu in Bua, a 56 year-old driver died after his 10 wheeler truck veered off the road.

Sokomuri says the man was transporting bauxite when he lost control of his truck.

He died on the spot.

Police are strongly warning drivers to refrain speeding while on the road.
