Two die in separate road accidents

A man believed to be in his 50’s died in an early morning accident in Nausori.

The accident occurred opposite Nausori Primary School when a taxi driver allegedly lost control of the taxi and veered onto the footpath, hitting the pedestrian.

Police are trying to identify the victim.

He was wearing a pair of green track-pants and a green collared t-shirt and was holding a transmitter radio in his hand.

The taxi driver has been taken into police custody.

Police are appealing for information that would help identify the victim.

In another accident this morning, a 25-year-old student died after he allegedly lost control of his vehicle in Suva.

The car hit a power pole on Ratu Mara Road in Nabua.

The road death toll stands at 18.
