We will never run away and will remain fighting.
This is the statement of the Chairman of Pacific Islands Forum Meeting and Prime Minister of Tuvalu Enele Sopoaga while speaking at the opening of the 50th Pacific Island Forum Meeting in Funafuti last night.
Sopoaga says the Pacific doesn’t need to rely on other people to sort out climate issues affecting small island countries and they should continue to fight for the future of their children.
Sopoaga has also urged Pacific Island leaders to speak up and show the vulnerability of our nations globally.
He says the voice of small island nations should always be on the radar combatting the growing challenge of climate change.
The Prime Minister of Tuvalu is calling on leaders to be bold, step up their strategies and at the same time create a better future for their children.
Meanwhile outgoing chair and President of Nauru Baron Waqa has challenged leaders to build a strong blue Pacific.
