Fiji National University Student Rep Ilisapeci Tunamena is claiming that FNUSA President Ketan Lal is refusing to give them the financial report as a lot things he has done are not accounted for.

Tunamena claims that Lal is corrupt and he needs to clear things for everyone.

“He is so much corrupted because he bribed two of our students I can say bribe here, I am a law student and I am grounded with that word.”

She says that it’s vital for the students to see the financial report from the FNUSA President so they can settle their grievances.

“It has to be resolved. Once we see the financial report because that is the issue. All our queries will involve the finance report, everything money expenditure all the money coming in our account, going out, it will be shown in the report.”

However, FNU Vice Chancellor Nigel Healey says everything was sorted out in March this year.

“All of those matter she raised, were discussed in length in a meeting which lasted two to three hours and was fully met, all of those issues have been addressed some five six months ago.”

Tunamena says that this is not the case.

“No, it was not sorted, we came to the table of the registrar to sort out the issue but the issue is our financial report, so the President of FNUSA promised the registrar that he will give us a copy of that report straight after the meeting in Ba. It’s not resolved.”

Tunamena adds that it’s hard for any association in FNU to conduct activities as the FNUSA refuses to release any money.

“We hardly do any activities in Nasinu campus and approximately 3-4k students enrolled per trimester, and we are all paying this fees but the activity that we do per trimester, it doesn’t tally up to the amount of money that is deducted from that $73.”

FBC news spoke to Ketan Lal and he refuses to comment however will provide a statement later in the week.
