Tui Macuata Ratu Wiliame Katonivere has commended Damodar Brothers Limited for their $40 million investment in Labasa town.

Damodar Brothers Director Div Damodar this afternoon presented an ‘I sevu-sevu’ to the Tui Macuata seeking his blessings and support for the development of the Damodar complex.

Ratu Wiliame says Vanua Levu is looking forward to the development as he wants the people of the North to enjoy the same privileges as those in Viti Levu.

He adds, this investment will now open doors for other investors.

“I know small investors they would want to come in but they would wait for someone big to come in and right now it’s just open, the floodgate is open for everyone to come it and it will also help the Northern business to prepare themselves for the changes that is going to come.”

Div Damodar says this is a large project which will take time and they expect to kick off the construction by the end of next month.

The complex which will take two and half years to complete will amongst other things include cinemas, restaurants, a supermarket and a hotel.
