Tsunami drill for staff along the Nasese Peninsula

About 2, 000 staff working in agencies along the Nasese peninsula in Suva will be undergoing a tsunami drill today.

The drill will help prepare these staff to evacuate their offices within 20 minutes in the event of a tsunami.

The agencies that will be involved include the Office of the President, the Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resource, the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, the iTaukei Trust Fund Board, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Police Academy and the Fiji Revenue and Customs Services.

The National Disaster Management Office will coordinate the drill which will involve the closing of the Queen Elizabeth Drive from the Bowling Club to the Fiji Revenue and Customs Services between 11 am to 2pm today.

The NDMO is advising the public living along the vicinity not to be alarmed during this time.

The Queen Elizabeth Drive from the Bowling Club to the FRCS office will be temporarily closed as well during this time.
