A fifty-three-year-old truck driver from Talacake, Ba died last night following a motor vehicle accident.

The incident occurred near Tau Village in Nadi.

Police say the victim is alleged to have lost control of the truck he was driving and as a result it veered off the road.

The victim was transporting logs and due to the impact of the accident he was trapped inside the vehicle.

Police say he was pulled out of the truck by the villagers.

He was conveyed to the Nadi Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The road death toll stands at 7 compared to 10 for the same period last year.
