A tropical depression has formed in the northwest of Labasa.

Due to that a heavy rain warning is now in force for Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, eastern Viti Levu, Lomaiviti and the Northern Lau Group.

Director Meteorology Alipate Waqaicelua says the current weather is expected to continue.

“As far as rain is concerned that is going to persist this week and it is going to affect most parts of the country.”

The heavy rain may cause flash flooding.
