Tropical Cyclone formation unlikely at the moment

December 15, 2016 8:53 pm

There are chances that Tropical Depression TD 04F will not develop further into a tropical cyclone, at least for the next 12 hours.

Director Meteorology Ravin Kumar says this is according to information received overnight.

“Overnight it has encountered some constraints. The upper atmosphere is not supporting it to further develop, however we will still monitor to see whether it will struggle through these constraints over the next 12 hours or so to turn into a category 1 system if not it will still remain as a Tropical Depression.”

Despite this, heavy rains are expected to continue with a flood warning still in place.

As of 7am today, TD 04F was located 460km West-Northwest of Nadi and 400km West of Yasawa , moving at 10km/ph in a South-Southwest direction.
