Fijian nationals remain on high alert in South Sudan despite a ceasefire in place.
Director Peace Support Operations – Commander Humphrey Tawake says the United Nations is pulling out all the stops to ensure the fragile ceasefire stays in place for the long term.
“I think there are other diplomatic efforts by the United Nations, Ban Ki Moon was there a couple of days ago to try and resolve the on-going conflict or the on going clashes and for the ceasefire to hold.”
There are 27 Fijians working in South Sudan from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Fiji Police Force and Fiji Corrections Service.
