The trial of a 36-year-old man alleged to have been in possession of 1.2 kilograms of methamphetamine in 2017 starts today.

Kritesh Kumar of Nasinu is charged with three counts of unlawful possession of illicit drugs and one count of cultivating illicit drugs.

It’s alleged that between October and November last year he had the drugs in his possession without lawful authority.

He also allegedly cultivated illicit drugs.

The prosecution will be calling seven witness while the defense is expected to call in two witnesses.

Kumar has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
