February 21, 2016 1:52 am

A family in Tuirara, Nasinu was lucky to escape unhurt yesterday afternoon when a nearby tree fell on their corrugated iron house, due to strong winds.

Ravindra Prasad says he and his family were in their living room at 7pm, watching television when the huge tree crashed through their ceiling, bringing rain and strong winds into the house.

Prasad says he had to rush his elderly parents and children to a neighbour’s house before returning to watch over their belongings.
