Transmission line trips causing power outage

The transmission line from the Wailoa Power Station to the Vuda Switchyard in the Western Division tripped causing power disruption in Viti Levu.

The entire island was affected by this unplanned power outage from around 10.30 am.

Energy Fiji Limited says it commenced restoring power supply and close to 90% of the affected areas had electricity by mid-day.

Remaining EFL customers in the Western and Central division had power restored by 12.30 pm

EFL in a statement says it engineers are in the process of identifying the cause of fault that triggered the power disruption to ensure that it does not happen again.
