Training for Pacific fisheries officers in Fiji

Fisheries officers from ten island countries will be attending a training course for Fisheries Extension Officers in Fiji.

The training is organized by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in partnership with the Okinawa Environment Club of Japan.

The aim of the training course is to assist participants identify roles and structures of the fisheries sector as well as develop solutions for sustainable utilization of fishery resources.

The training will be facilitated by JICA, Fiji’s Department of Fisheries, the University of South Pacific and the Secretariat of Pacific Community.

Participants will be from the Federated States of Micronesia, Samoa and Tonga.

Training will be held from 8th to 13th October.
