Traffic signals in Namaka, Nadi will soon be synchronized and will likely ease peak hour traffic congestion.

Fiji Roads Authority chief executive, Jonathan Moore says he requested his team to synchronize the lights from the Votualevu roundabout through to Wailoaloa.

Moore says following this – the lights will be changing in relation to the speed limit.

“So if I start at a green light at BSP in Namaka and I travelled at a speed limit – I would get to the Wailoaloa Junction without stopping and it does actually work. There is a few little discrepancies that needs to be addressed but the principal is that you drive on the road within the speed limit you will get through the lights on green – all in sequence that is how we control the speed in traffic.”

The FRA is bringing in software that will be used to synchronize the traffic signals.

Moore says these changes will take time and drivers must remain patient.
