Traditional welcome ceremonies for PIDF delegates

The welcoming ceremonies for the third Pacific Islands Developing Forum is currently underway at the Great Council of Chiefs Complex in Nasese, Suva.

Leading the ceremonies is the 100 men guard of honour by the Fiji Military Forces.

This was followed by a full traditional Fijian welcoming ceremony.

Over 300 delegates are attending the event, which started at around 3pm.

Amongst the delegates are the Thailand Deputy PM General Thanasak Patimapragorn, Kazakstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Erlan Idrissov, the Indonesian Marine Affairs Minister and representatives from the EU, the UK, Belgium, NZ, Kuwait, Singapore, Israeli, Netherlands, Venezuela, Chile, Belgium and the Philippines.

After the welcoming ceremonies, the delegates will be hosted to a welcome reception by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

The meeting proper gets underway tomorrow morning.
