Over $522m in tourism earning for last December quarter

Fiji’s tourism earnings for the December quarter last year increased by 1.9 percent compared to the same period in 2017.

According to the Bureau of Statistics, the earnings stood at over $522 million.

When compared to 2017 December quarter, major changes were recorded in earnings by countries.

Australia was down by 5.2 percent to $244.4m contributing 46.7 percent to the total.

NZ was down by 20.7 percent to $105.5 million contributing around 20 percent.

USA was up by 71.2 percent to $44.5 million contributing 8.5 percent to the total.

While the Pacific Islands was up by 91.4 percent to $24.5 million contributing 4.7 percent to the total.
