The Meet the Pacific event for regional tourism stakeholders and potential customers in Europe is expanding to include Asia for the second year.

The event commenced this week in Austria and will take place in ten countries until March 20.

SPTO Chief Executive Officer, Chris Cocker says in Asia, the event will be held in Singapore, South Korea, Japan and China.

SPTO and partners he says are continuously looking for new markets including Asia and we are optimistic that this will lead to an increased interest in the region which hopefully translate into visitor arrivals.

This augurs well with the 2019 China Pacific Tourism Year initiative that SPTO and China as a member country will implement in the coming months.

The initiative promotes the Pacific to niche market segments in China and also helps Pacific tourism stakeholders to be ‘China Ready’.

A major highlight of the Asia leg of Meet the Pacific will be the launch of the Pacific Promotion Program for Trade, Investment & Tourism in Seoul, South Korea.

Meet the Pacific is a one day event per city during which Pacific resort partners, national tourism organisations and airline partners who are marketing their services and properties, meet key Asian tour operators interested in selling Pacific destinations in Europe, the United Kingdom and Asia.

Meet the Pacific will be held in Austria, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and the Czech Republic before moving to the Asian countries.
