There have been complaints from tourism operators in the western division regarding the service provided by the Police Force.

While speaking to police officers in the Western Division, Defence Minister Inia Seruiratu says if the issue is not dealt with well, it could affect the tourism industry.

Seruiratu says safety and security are crucial in the West as Nadi is one of the country’s major port of entry.

“If you are dishonest, complaints against you and against your service will rise. Work with an honest clean heart and you will earn the trust of the people that you serve. Nadi will soon be declared a city and this will generate more demand for your service. Many of Fiji’s economic drivers are right here in the Western Division. The government is relying on the Fiji Police Force to maintain safety and security.”

Seruiratu says service delivery should be enhanced first in the District level for all officers before they move to the national level.

He adds the call for more police foot patrols and visibility shows that people have increased demands for their services and officers should work to provide these services.
