The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism is satisfied with their $99.3m budget despite a decrease from last year’s allocation.

Minister responsible Faiyaz Koya says they’ve got what they wanted and they’re looking forward to the many challenges ahead.

A decrease of $6.1m from their previous budget allocation is attributed to their successful marketing campaigns.

With many of their initiative still ongoing and will continue for the new financial year, Koya says the onus is for the Ministry to maintain its growth.

“We are growing but growing doesn’t mean just opening up the skies and it means growing sustainably, we need to have the necessary inventory for more flights to come in.”

The Tourism marketing grant has been allocated $29.78m to continue global branding initiatives in target markets to ensure that Fiji remains a top holiday destination.
