“We expect the visitor numbers to continue growing but the emphasis of the Fijian government is not on numbers, it’s on yield and income.”

Ali says Fiji is a sea locked country and there is limited natural resources which is why tourism industry is focusing on sustainability.

He says if the resources are preserved and are sustainable only then the industry can continue to make money.

Ali adds last year was also as record year as more than 840,000 visitors came to the country.
