“In the last budget we increased the allocation of Tourism Fiji marketing grant significantly and there is always that emphasis for Government to resource Tourism Fiji adequately so it is able to market the Fijian brand.”

Ali says the government has emphasized the need to strengthen the regional tourism representatives and officers.

He adds in 2016 the non-traditional tourist markets received a boost in marketing to enhance arrivals from these countries.

In 2017 the visitor arrivals numbers reached a new high of over eight hundred thousand.

This was a 6.4 percent increase from 2016.
