Top diplomats to attend PIDF Summit

A number of top diplomats will attend the Pacific Islands Development Forum in Suva next week; among them will be the Commonwealth Secretary General Kamalesh Sharma.

PIDF Interim Secretary General, Amena Yauvoli, says currently the foundation members of the summit is seventeen and the Ministry has received eleven confirmed countries attending.

“We are anticipating the meeting to be really well represented at leaders level and another important point that I would like to raise also is that, they are coming with representatives of civil societies and private sectors, so recognizing the vision and the mission of PIDF, represented by all sectors of societies, this leaders have seen the wisdom of bringing their various representative in the meeting as well."

Yauvoli says countries that have so far confirmed attendance are Tuvalu, Nauru, Kiribati, Tonga, French Polynesia, Tokelau and Fiji amongst a few others.

The third Pacific Islands Development Forum summit will be held at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva, Fiji, from the third to the forth of September this year.
