Usamate says Fiji is considered to be a low prevalence country for HIV/AIDS as the estimated number of people living with HIV in Fiji is less than 1,000.

The cumulative number of people diagnosed with HIV as at 30th September, 2015 is 647.

The National Strategic Plan 2016-2020 is in formulation at the moment and this will clearly indicate priority areas for implementation and set out a programmatic approach in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
