The fact that people are choosing to post photos and videos of the tragic accident that happened in Nabou, Sigatoka yesterday is a sign that it’s time to evaluate our social media habits.

Save the Children Fiji’s CEO, Iris Low-McKenzie says it’s very disrespectful to be sharing and posting such posts online.

Low-McKenzie is urging the public to respect the victim’s family who are going through a difficult time in receiving the news of this unfortunate fatal accident.

She says some of the deceased are children who belong to families and to be circulating horrific videos is inhumane and insensitive.

These actions are a direct violation of children’s rights to human dignity and is indicative of the lack of respect for other people’s privacy and personal space.

People are being advised to be mindful of other children who might view this horrific incident which can be traumatizing for them.
