The Thurston Food and Music Festival began today opening with gorgeous weather in the capital with Fijians and their families flocking to the Museum Park in numbers.

The event which is organised by Knox Entertainment in partnership with Fiji Broadcasting Corporation’s GoldFM is only in its second year and continues to get bigger.

GoldFM’s Program Director – Kara Koroi notes the event is like none other in Fiji.

“This is such a great platform for a lot of people to come and take advantage of the Sun and the great weather and of course the entertainment and plus we also have a variety of food stalls that have great food. So this is just something that is out the norm and at the same time promoting local music and local talent”

And with 11 hours of continuous live music from household names such as the Gang, Inside Out, Knox Brotherhood, Nem & Talei and KKU, Koroi is urging those who can to attend the festival.

“We’ve still got time cause this is going on all the way until 10 o’clock , tickets are still available at the gate at Thurston Garden, $25 a ticket , but entry for children is free, that’s why we keep stressing the fact that they need to bring the whole family with the children included.”

The festival not only offers up the best on the local music scene but compliments its sounds with scrumptious Fijian inspired meals from the standard Lovo to Beer packs of specialised sausages and an assortment of grilled and smoked meats.
