Three uncles guilty and one acquitted of rape

High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo has found three men guilty of raping their 14-year-old nephew and one not guilty of rape.

Temo convicted the three uncles and acquitted the fourth one.

The first accused is 40-years-old, the second accused is 36-years-old, the third accused is 52-years-old while the fourth accused is 45-years-old who has been acquitted.

While summing up the case, Justice Temo reminded the three assessors that when the incident occurred the boy was below the age of 13 years and cannot legally consent to sex.

The alleged incident occurred in Tailevu between November 2015 to March last year.

The three men will be sentenced tomorrow.
