The Electoral Commission has referred three people to the Fiji Police Force for their alleged involvement in spreading false information about the 2018 General Elections.
This was confirmed by Electoral Commission Chair Suresh Chandra this morning during the launch of the Training for the Trainers program.
Chandra says the Commission is concerned with elements that are spreading wrong information to the public on the electoral process.
”Information that is likely to cause confusion, as the Electoral Commission we have authorised the Supervisor the Elections to identify and refer these people to the relevant authorities.”
While investigation on these three matters continue, Chandra reminded the trainees that their role requires them to be honest and apolitical.
Around eighty participants including officers from the Fiji Police Force are part of the training that will be held for two days.
