The Waterways Ministry is in the process of solving the drainage problems faced by villagers of Vanuadina in Tailevu.
This after claims have been made by the villagers that the Drainage Board did not complete its job to clear the waterways.
The villagers claim their requests are not being heard.
Director Operation at the Ministry, Mahendra Kumar says they are looking into the matter.
Kumar says there is no drainage board and work relating to waterways comes under the Ministry.
“I have to find out from the Nausori office that the government has given a $3m budget provision for this financial year. We will attend to this village’s drainage problem and see what drainage improvement can be done.”
The Vanuadina village outside Nausori town is in a flood prone area.
