Three young men who robbed a foreign national of more than $13,000 worth of property were handed a suspended sentence by the Suva High Court.
20-year-old Venasio Cawa and Uluitia Toutou and 21-year-old Sefanaia Bale pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated burglary and theft.
The court heard the three entered the apartment of a foreign national between 9th and 10th April and stole items worth $13,583 in Pacific Harbor.
Judge Justice Riyaz Hamza said the aggravating factor was that the three showed no regard to the foreign nationals and they had pre-planned the crime.
Justice Hamza said the mitigating factors was that the three pleaded guilty and are remorseful of their actions.
The High court Judge also said that a large proportion of the items stolen were recovered.
Justice Hamza also said that prisons do not always rehabilitate offenders.
Cawa has been sentenced to one-year six months imprisonment suspended for three years while Bale and Toutou have each been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment suspended for three years.
