The Assistant Minister for Women, Children & Poverty Alleviation Veena Bhatnagar presented a cheque of $1000 each to three families in Nadi who lost their homes in three separate incidences of fire in the past weeks.

Visiting the families in Nawaka, Navakai and Sabeto, Bhatnagar was deeply saddened by their loss, especially as it came towards the festive season.

Bhatnagar also presented Christmas gifts to the children in these families.

She assured that government is ready to help those in need and the fire relief assistance is meant to cater for the immediate needs of a family affected by fire.

She later spent time with children under state care at the St. Minas Home in Nadi and presented gifts to them as well.
