Three people will be produced at the Suva Magistrates Court today for allegedly robbing three individuals in Suva over the weekend.

Two of the three are in their 20s while one is a juvenile aged 17 years and all have been charged with theft.

Over the weekend, officers conducted an operation within the Suva City area whereby six people were arrested.

Chief Operations Officer ACP Maretino Qiolevu says three have been charged while the others were questioned and released.

”While we are looking into the concerns raised by the public, we will maintain our call for members of the public to take all necessary steps of ensuring their personal safety as these are opportunistic crimes carried out by individuals and not a group operating in the Suva area as claimed.”

ACP Qiolevu says they’re mindful of the calls to increase visibility and patrols within the city areas and have taken the necessary steps to do so.

He adds officers are also being deployed to conduct mobile and foot patrols throughout the heavily populated residential areas in the Southern Division.
