Threat complaints are taken seriously: Naisoro

Complaints received by the Police Force relating to any sort of threats are taken seriously and are given priority.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro says especially when the nation is preparing for the General Election later this month, numerous threats on social media have surfaced.

She says police officers also need to play their part and attend to these sort of complaints immediately.

“We have issued the numbers of the divisional police commanders who are accessible on 24 hours basis so if they have concerns or if they have complaints against, the services of police officers serving in their area. We also have our internal department who looks into complaints against police officers and complaints against our services.”

Naisoro says the Police Commissioner has also stressed that police officers play an important role in providing a safer platform for all Fijians to freely voice their opinion.

She says those threatening Fijians on social media will be dealt with seriously.
