January 10, 2018 3:10 am

Around thirty people have been arrested by police in the past three weeks alone for possession of drugs.

Police Chief of Operations ACP Rusiate Tudravu says that majority of the drugs seized were Marijuana and a few methamphetamine.

ACP Tudravu adds they received a lot of information from the public which led to most of the recent drug raids around the country.

”We’ve recorded almost drug arrests and that’s those that are found in possession starting from the 15th of December up until now. Arrest have been done in almost all four divisions during our operation period so that tells us that there’s a spread of the use of Marijuana. They know that we are coming down on them so they would like to go far beyond what we expected but if they hide it anywhere, we will be there.”

Tudravu says officers in all four divisions will continue to intensify their war on drugs and the assistance shown by the public is very encouraging.

Fijians are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 919 or any Command Centres if they have any information on the illegal drug trade.
