A thirty-four-year-old man from Nasautoka, Tailevu has died following a road accident yesterday.

Police has confirmed a thirty-seven-year-old driver from Natawa, Tavua has been taken into custody in relation to the accident.

Police say the suspect who is a bus driver stopped at Waito along the Kings Road so that the victim who is a bus checker could pick up a receipt book that flew outside.

It is alleged the suspect reversed the bus and ran over the victim when he was picking up the book.

The victim was rushed to the Korovou Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigation continues.

The road death toll now stands at 61 compared to 50 for the same period last year.
