Attorney General and Minister Responsible for Climate Change, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, has once again stressed there is no demarcation between development fund and adaptation fund for a developing country like Fiji.
While delivering his remarks at the opening of the European Investment Bank’s side event, Sayed-Khaiyum talked about how one half of Viti Levu is currently facing a drought while on the other half, there were regular rain fall.
He says for a geographically small island this meant water storage becoming an issue.
The Attorney General’s remarks were well received by a high level team from the European Development Bank.
Meanwhile the AG also participated in WWF’s session on ABCs of Green Sovereign Bond where he talked about the importance of the Green Bond and how Fiji intends to capitalize on it.
Sayed-Khaiyum also highlighted how the Environment and Climate Adaptation Levy will be used in climate adaptation projects.
He emphasised the need for transparency and developing human resource as the country implements climate adaptation and mitigation projects.
