Theatre studies and learning about how a camera works, editing videos and theatre makeup will help the Fijian Economy in the long run.

Economy and Communications Minister Aiyaz Sayed- Khaiyum says with Fiji’s beautiful landscape many foreign film makers are coming to Fiji for shoots and this can create jobs for students who study theatre arts.

Sayed-Khaiyum says this will generate income for young people and they will be able to provide a better life for themselves.

“We want to develop very good camera persons and very good directors, producers, makeup artists, and costume designers. And we believe we can place a career path for those people who are interested in that.”

He says Fijians are very creative and talented and urged students during the Kula Film Awards last night to take this field seriously.

Sayed-Khaiyum adds that studying creative arts and theatre will improve the creativity within them and give them more ideas when working on a production.

He says Fiji’s film industry has a long way to go as many foreign countries are coming to Fiji to shoot TV series and high earning Bollywood and Hollywood movies.
