The UNSG to address parliament today

The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will be addressing the Parliament today.

He is also expected to have a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama.

Taking on a more Fiji centric approach today – the UNSG will be paying his respects by laying a wreath for fallen soldiers at the Veiuto Monument in Nasese.

Following which he will have an interactive session with youth activists at USP – before an official reception dinner at GPH to conclude the Fiji leg of his Pacific tour.

Guterres will also meet with the President and as part of Fiji’s 4million trees in 4 years and make a contribution by planting a tree.

This historic visit is a milestone achievement towards cementing stronger diplomatic relations between the United Nations and the Pacific Region, especially in the lead up to the UNSG’s climate action summit in September.
