Temporary classrooms will be provided for schools that are badly affected in Vanua Levu and cannot be open for classes come Monday.

Education Officer Primary Schools in the North Ili Volai told the DISMAC briefing at the Emergency Operations Centre in Labasa this morning that a few schools in Bua and one in Cakaudrove are not fit to be open for classes.

Volai says the Ministry of Education is supply tents to these schools to be used as temporary classrooms so classes can resume.

Two schools are still being used as evacuation centers and authorities have been tasked with looking for an alternative place to shelter them so school is not disrupted.

There is no report yet from Taveuni as assessment teams are still on the ground.
