Courses provided in Technical Colleges around the country may get assessed in order to identify which areas needs to be improved.
Attorney General and Minister for Education Aiayz Sayed-Khaiyum says they want to ensure that courses provided are beneficiall to students.
“Whether the courses we are making available are actually good courses not just in terms of the quality but whether it’s actually relevant for those that are doing the courses in terms of employment opportunity.”
Sayed-Khaiyum also highlighted that a lot of people who attend Technical Colleges do not finish their courses which is a major area of concern.
“Many of the people of actually attend Technical Colleges in Fiji after they do their course work and go out for their first practical a lot of them don’t return because there is a shortage of skill sets in Fiji and therefor they get employed really quickly.”
He adds they need to ensure these people move up the next stage so they can increase their employability.
