Tuning the skills of our officers to help them carry out their work diligently is key says Fiji Corrections Service acting Commissioner Operations Sakiusa Veiwili.

More than a hundred officers were part of a skills training competition last week.

Veiwili says looking after the inmates who are under their care is challenging and this type of training will help officers overcome hurdles.

He says team work is paramount.

“This is in terms of choosing the right people and also encountering obstacles that are ahead of them on how they plan themselves on progress once they progress after every obstacles and how do they encounter those obstacles.”

The Corrections Service is planning to make the skills training competition an annual event.
