“As to the emergency response of the ship I think that’s something that the enquiry will investigate and look into and to come up with their findings and recommendations.”

The team continues to monitor the situation.

When asked if he was aware of why the Sinu-i-Wasa, the rescue ship, took so long to let out survivors, Kean says it could be due to a number of reasons including the captain debriefing the crew on board.

Furthermore, Kean thanked the quick response by Fiji Ports Corporation to send their tug boats and pilot boats and the Fiji Navy for sending out one of their ships for the rescue mission.

This he says lead to the safety of all crew on board.
