Teachers who performed well in school will be given bonuses or pay increments.
This was confirmed by the minister for Education Reddy during the opening of the Fijian Teachers Association Annual General meeting.
Reddy says the ministry is revising the performance of teachers and those who are committed to their work will be rewarded .
“We are now revising the Annual Performance Assessment Forms and now we will have 20% evaluation from your supervisors, 20% evaluation from your students and 60% evaluation will be based on the academic achievements of your students. For those that will perform exceptionally well their salary bracket will increase and once they reach the highest bracket, they will then be paid a one of bonus.”
Fijian Teachers Association President Gauna Halofaki says the Union supports the idea since it will uplift the standard of teaching.
